Lawyerly is a law firm providing subscription and fixed-fee legal services to businesses in England and Wales. Our solicitors handle day-to-day commercial legal work (contracts, employment, IP, compliance, leases, disputes) for a fixed monthly or annual fee, delivered through the Client Hub.

Yes, Lawyerly Ltd is a law firm authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We meet the same standards as any other law firm, are bound by its Code of Conduct and carry professional indemnity insurance for your peace of mind. So you have all the protections of a firm, just with a more modern approach to service and billing.

It is not the regulation. Lawyerly Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, on the same terms as any other law firm.

The difference is the commercial model, and it changes how the work feels. We do not record time on subscription work, so there is no clock running when you call. Questions, second opinions and a look over something before you sign do not count against anything.

You work with one named solicitor, employed here rather than freelance, so the same person still knows your business a year from now. Everything runs through the Client Hub: you open a matter there, see where it has got to, book time in your solicitor's diary and keep the documents in one place.

Founders and growing businesses across England and Wales, from pre-incorporation startups to established companies with turnover of up to around £10m. Our clients include technology and AI businesses, creative and media agencies, e-commerce and retail brands, hospitality and events businesses, healthcare, beauty and wellness practices, sport and fitness operators, franchisors and franchisees, education and childcare providers, and companies in building, construction and commercial real estate.

Yes. We use AI tools for research, drafting, summarising, document review and administration. A lawyer checks any substantive work prepared with AI before it is sent to you, and we remain responsible for our advice and work. Our AI providers are listed at lawyerly.co/processors and in our Privacy Notice.

A legal subscription gives your business ongoing access to your own solicitor for a fixed monthly or annual fee. Each plan is designed for a business at a particular stage, from startups in their first year to established businesses that need the support of an in-house legal function. Every plan includes unlimited advisory work: you can speak to your solicitor as often as you need, by message or by call, for questions, second opinions, a view on a clause or a regular check-in. When something needs to be prepared for you, such as a contract, a set of policies, a formal advice note or a letter to the other side, we prepare it and see it through to completion, including revisions and negotiation. There is no limit on everyday work. Larger projects, such as buying a business or raising investment, are quoted separately at a fixed fee. The subscription runs for 12 months from checkout, or for two years if you choose a two-year term on Accelerate, Scale or Enterprise.

Plans start from £379 per month plus VAT. There are four plans, each designed for a stage of business: Launch (£379, for startups not yet trading or in their first year), Accelerate (£579, growing businesses up to £2m turnover), Scale (£879, established businesses of £2m to £5m) and Enterprise (£1,579, businesses of £5m to £10m that need the support of an in-house legal function). We recommend a plan in discussion with you, based on the stage and size of your business. Paying annually saves 10 per cent. A two-year term on Accelerate, Scale or Enterprise saves 20 per cent. The full comparison is on our pricing page.

For businesses that need legal input more than once or twice a year, yes. An hour with a traditional commercial solicitor now costs several hundred pounds, and a contract review on hourly billing often runs to more than £1,000. A legal subscription gives you a known monthly cost, faster turnaround, and a solicitor who already knows your business, so you do not pay for repeat onboarding every time. If your business only needs one legal task a year, a fixed-fee service is usually a better fit.

A fixed-fee legal service is a one-off piece of legal work priced before it begins: a specific contract, a defined project or a particular matter. We issue a written proposal setting out scope, assumptions, fee and timing, and work starts once the invoice is paid and identity and conflict checks are complete.

Fixed fees suit businesses with a single project rather than ongoing needs, and subscribers who need something outside their plan, such as buying or selling a business or raising investment. Subscribers receive a discount on every fixed-fee project: 10 per cent on Launch, 20 on Accelerate, 30 on Scale and 50 on Enterprise.

No. Your subscription fee is the price you pay. The exceptions are VAT where it applies, disbursements such as filing and registry fees, which we flag before incurring them, and any work outside your plan that you ask us to handle under a fixed fee.

Yes. There is no cap on questions, second opinions or check-in calls on any plan. The only condition is that the plan is for your own business’s legal needs, not for another business or person. Everyday drafting and negotiation has no limit either. Only larger projects, such as buying a business or an investment round, are quoted separately.

We will tell you before we start. Work outside your subscription, such as buying or selling a business, an investment round or court proceedings, is quoted as a fixed fee with your plan discount: 10 per cent on Launch, 20 on Accelerate, 30 on Scale and 50 on Enterprise. We will not begin until you have accepted the quote.

Every plan includes the commercial legal work a UK business needs day to day:

  • Legal advice and guidance
  • Commercial contracts, terms and conditions, NDAs, supplier and customer agreements
  • Employment contracts, policies and HR matters
  • Corporate housekeeping: resolutions, shareholders' agreements, founder agreements and IP assignments
  • UK GDPR, data protection and compliance policies
  • Trade mark searches, applications and brand protection
  • Franchise documentation
  • A proactive legal roadmap built with your solicitor

Some items depend on the plan. Pre-action contentious work is included on every plan, and on Enterprise we take a dispute through to settlement. Debt recovery of £2,500 or more is included on every plan. One commercial lease a year is included: on Launch, leases of three years or less with the annual rent and any premium under £50,000; on Accelerate, leases under seven years that do not need to be registered, with rent and any premium under £150,000; and on Scale and Enterprise, leases of up to 15 years, including registrable leases and unopposed 1954 Act renewals. Every plan includes unlimited UK trade mark applications. The Plan Schedule sets all of this out in full.

Some work sits outside the subscription, either because it is its own scoped project or because it is not what we do:

  • Buying or selling a business
  • Investment rounds and SEIS/EIS work
  • Employment tribunal claims
  • Litigation, which we do not run ourselves
  • Conveyancing
  • Tax, accounting and other non-legal advice
  • Advice on laws outside England and Wales

If something falls outside your plan we will tell you. Most of it we can take on as a fixed-fee project at your plan's discount. Where a matter needs a disputes firm, we appoint and brief them for you, negotiate their fees and stay alongside you throughout.

Everyday work is the legal work that comes up in the ordinary running of your business: a supplier agreement reviewed and marked up, a founders’ shareholders’ agreement, website terms and a privacy policy, a formal advice note, or a letter to the other side. There is no limit on it.

We do not run court proceedings ourselves. We deal with disputes early: assessing your position, responding to threats and complaints, letters before action, negotiation and settlement, and pre-action debt recovery. If a matter does need to go to court, we refer it to a specialist disputes firm and, on Enterprise, coordinate that firm on your behalf. The disputes firm’s fees are your own cost.

Yes, as fixed-fee projects rather than part of the subscription. Buying or selling a business runs in phases, priced per phase and agreed before each one starts, for UK deals up to £2.5m. Raising investment includes SEIS/EIS readiness, HMRC advance assurance preparation, SEIS and EIS rounds, seed and pre-Series A rounds and convertible instruments. Subscribers receive their plan discount on all of it.

Yes. Founders can either subscribe (Launch is designed for startups not yet trading or in their first year) or buy a one-off startup legal pack: Starting out, Ready to trade, First hire, Investment-ready or Founder-built product, or the Complete pack, which brings the first three together. Each is available drafted from scratch or as a review of documents you already hold.

Before any work begins, your solicitor works out what your business needs and in what order, and you build a legal roadmap together. On Scale that becomes a quarterly proactive review; on Enterprise it is monthly. It is how we get ahead of problems rather than reacting to them.

Our solicitors are qualified in England and Wales and advise on the laws of England and Wales. Most UK commercial contracts are governed by them, so this rarely causes a problem. For cross-border matters we handle the UK side (your UK contracts, entity, employment and UK GDPR position) and point you to specialists for the foreign-law elements.

The Client Hub is the online workspace where you interact with your solicitor. From a single login, you can message your solicitor, book consultations, upload documents, track matter progress, view drafts and completed work, and manage billing.

When you subscribe online we open your Client Hub the same day and start identity verification, a short check. Most clients are fully set up within about 20 minutes, and your solicitor gets in touch during that time to book a first session. After that you log in at app.lawyerly.co, or from the Client Hub link at the top of any page on this site.

Yes. Most communication runs through the Client Hub because it keeps everything in one place, but we also work by email, phone, and video call where it makes sense.

We respond the same working day. Most work is turned around within three working days on average, while complex work takes longer. We always tell you the timeframe, and let you know straight away if anything will take longer.

Of course. Many subscribers use us for day-to-day commercial work and keep a specialist firm for specific areas. Where it helps, we work alongside them.

Existing clients: send a message through the Client Hub, or email info@lawyerly.co. New enquiries: book a complimentary consultation or email info@lawyerly.co. You can also call us on 0203 442 8479. We reply within one business day.

Tell us. We would much rather hear about it directly and put it right. Our Complaints Policy sets out how to raise a concern, how we investigate, and the timescales we follow.

Subscription fees are collected automatically through Stripe using the card you provide at checkout, monthly or annually. Annual billing is paid in one instalment with a 10 per cent discount. Monthly billing is a payment schedule for the 12-month subscription, not a rolling month-to-month arrangement.

Every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee: if you end your plan within 30 days of checkout and we have not yet delivered any formal work, we refund what you have paid. Your plan renews for a further 12 months unless you email support@lawyerly.co at least 30 days before your renewal date, and we aim to remind you beforehand.

Once we have confirmed the scope of a fixed-fee matter, we issue an invoice. You can pay by card on file via Stripe, through a payment link, or by bank transfer. Substantive work starts once payment has cleared and onboarding checks are complete.

Some matters involve disbursements: filing and registry fees, search fees, stamp duty land tax, and the fees of specialists such as barristers or experts. These are payable by you at cost, are not discounted, and we tell you before incurring them.

Yes, where it applies. Our fees are quoted exclusive of VAT, which is added at the prevailing rate. The fee is a deductible business expense, and VAT is reclaimable if you are VAT-registered.

We review your plan at each renewal or, on a two-year term, at each anniversary. If your business grows, you can move up at any time; this starts a new 12-month term with a 20 per cent step-up discount for the first year. It is not possible to move to a lower plan during a term.
